Hello!

As you know, ETSB is going Google and Edu-Group is on its way out! In order to help you with the transition to the new system, we, your ICT Support Team, in collaboration with the Ped. Services Team, will send you communications regularly for the next few months to inform you about the new ways of going Google with the new system! Don’t forget that your technicians are also available to visit your school if you feel that training would be useful for you and your users.  Furthermore, a communication after the March break will follow to offer additional support from ETSB teachers who will be available to support you in this transition.

Today, we’re proud to show you your new Web Portal. This website will replace Edu-Group and will give you access to all the tools and resources that you might need, in one place, in order to make your life easier! You can access that new portal right now at this address: https://portal.edu.etsb.qc.ca

You can login to the new portal by using the same credentials that you use with your @edu.etsb.qc.ca Google account right now. By logging in, you will gain access to a wide variety of resources, to intranet apps, and to the IT support contact form.

Also, the Edu Portal will become the access point to all the Google Services by March 16th. That means that in order to access any of the Google Services, you will have to login to the portal first. The authentication to Google will be done from there so you’ll have only one place to sign-in!

We will get in touch with you again on March 11th for more information about the ongoing transition!

You want a demo of the portal? Visit this link:  http://youtu.be/EsDNlSXE2Sc

Go ahead, and enjoy the new ETSB EDU Portal!

Your IT Team

PS: Don’t hesitate to send us comments by using the “Questions & Comments?” form under the “Support” menu! We’re looking forward to hearing from you!

Hello!

As you already know, the ETSB is moving to Google and we’re sending you this email today to keep you in-touch about the ongoing transition.

First, starting next Monday march 16th, we will turn on Single Sign On to Google. This will enable all Edu Portal users direct access to all the Google services. A tutorial can be found at this address for you to learn how it will be done starting march 16th: http://youtu.be/RG4DD7RLYjQ

Also, please note that the deadline to transfer your emails from EduGroupe to Gmail will be April 30th 2015. The deadline for transfering your files and communities content to Google will be August 31st 2015. All EduGroupe communities and shared files will be available until the summer.

Until April 30th, you will have to check both emails accounts (ped and edu). After that date, only edu accounts should be used. Guidelines about how to transfer your emails will be communicated to you on March 16th. Once you have completed this transfer, you will no longer have to check your ped account.

You can access the new portal at this address: https://portal.edu.etsb.qc.ca

We will get in touch with you again on March 16th for more information about the ongoing transition!

Your IT Team

PS: Thanks for all the comments sent with the “Questions & Comments?” form of the new portal! Your feedback is very appreciated and we’re looking forward to read you again!

Hello everyone!

As promised, here’s some additional important information about the transition to Google.

First, as announced last week, Single Sign On to Google is now active from the new Portal. This means that you will now access all Google services through the portal. The tutorial to learn how to do it is available here: http://youtu.be/RG4DD7RLYjQ

You can access the new portal at this address: https://portal.edu.etsb.qc.ca

Also, since EduGroup is on its way out, it will be important to transfer your emails from @ped addresses to @edu to avoid losing some. Here is the procedure that explains how to do this step by step: https://youtu.be/HShMke578yc

Sharing your new @edu email address with your contacts is also important. People who continue sending emails to your @ped email address should be reminded that this address will soon no longer work, and that they should use your @edu address. Setting up an email signature is a good way of communicating your new email address, here’s how to create one : http://youtu.be/DykpQOLZZco

If you need assistance, do not hesitate to contact ICT at helpdesk@etsb.qc.ca or dial extension 55555.

Already, more than 300 of ETSB staff members discovered the new portal so far! Thanks for being a part of it!

We will be in touch with you again on March 23for more information about the ongoing transition! Thank you. Your IT Team

PS: School secretaries and admin staff are not affected by these changes. Although school secretaries will soon obtain an @edu email address, their main email addresses will continue to be @etsb.qc.ca.

Hello Everyone!

Spring is at our doorstep, and we want to share a few more tips regarding our transition to Google Apps for Education (GAFE)!

Don’t forget that Edu-Group is on its way out, and it is important to transfer your emails from your @ped address to your @edu address. Once you do, all your email will be received in @edu and you will no longer have to check two accounts. Here is the procedure that explains how to do this step-by-step: https://youtu.be/HShMke578yc

Be sure that your contacts can still reach you by letting them know about your change of address. Creating an email signature is a good way to remind people that your @ped address will soon be discontinued and that they should use your @edu address instead.  This video will show you how to create a signature that will automatically be inserted into each new email that you send: http://youtu.be/DykpQOLZZco. These links and many more to help you get started with Google Apps are also available on the new portal under the Resources tab.

While it is not possible to transfer your contacts or mailing lists from EduGroup to your GMail account, contacting your students and/or colleagues is easier than ever with GMail! If you are looking for someone’s email address, just type a part of his/her name and a list will appear showing all the matching users in our @edu domain! This works for class groups, too! You can type the abbreviated name of your school (ex: aces for Ayer’s Cliff) and all the class groups will show up (this feature is only available for elementary right now…).

With more than 500 of your ETSB colleagues having discovered the new portal already, it’s time to take the plunge and join them! If you need assistance, do not hesitate to contact ICT at helpdesk@etsb.qc.ca or dial extension 55555.

We will be in touch with information about the transfer of Édu-Groupe communities to Google on March 30th!

Thank you.

Your IT Team

PS: School secretaries, admin staff and commissioners are not affected by these changes. Although they have an @edu email address, their main email addresses will continue to be @etsb.qc.ca.
